Palantir CTO Claims AI Researchers Smoking Over Cancer Cure Belief
Palantir Chief Technology Officer Shyam Sankar stated in a US television interview that some Artificial Intelligence researchers in Silicon Valley have begun smoking cigarettes. Sankar claims these researchers are doing so to demonstrate their strong belief that AI will cure cancer. He also suggested that many in the tech industry have filled a "god-shaped hole" with the "machine God of AGI" and attributed this phenomenon to effective altruism, describing it as a sign of "mass psychosis" fueled by technology.
