EU Launches New Arctic Strategy Amid Security and Climate Concerns
The European Union has unveiled a new strategy for the Arctic region, emphasizing security and addressing global warming. The strategy aims to boost the EU's presence and engagement in the Arctic. It acknowledges the growing importance of the region due to climate change and increasing geopolitical competition, particularly from the United States and Russia. Notably, the strategy draft reportedly retreated from earlier language that would have banned Arctic oil exploration.
