A landslide near Parassala railway station in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram district caused the locomotive of the Bilaspur-Tirunelveli Express to derail late Wednesday night, disrupting train services. Southern Railway confirmed that all passengers and railway staff were safe. Six passenger trains were cancelled as a result of the incident. One report indicated that objects placed on the tracks were intended to derail the train, with a suspect reportedly telling police the motive was anger over unemployment.
