J&K Government Doubles Intern Stipend Amid Protests
The Jammu and Kashmir government has doubled the monthly stipend for MBBS and BDS interns, including Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs), from Rs 12,300 to Rs 25,000. This decision followed renewed protests by the interns over a delayed stipend hike. The revised stipend will be effective from October 1, 2026, as per a notification from the Chief Minister’s Office.
