Election Commissioners' Complaint Against Senior Officer Revealed by RTI
An RTI query has revealed that two Election Commissioners, Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, lodged a complaint with the Cabinet Secretary against a senior officer, Manish Garg, a Senior Deputy Election Commissioner. The complaint alleged that Garg altered the distribution of work without discussion. The Cabinet Secretariat acknowledged receiving the complaint for 'information' but stated it could not take action as the complaints were sent in an 'individual capacity' and interfering would constitute undue interference in the functioning of an independent constitutional body. The Cabinet Secretariat's response indicated that it could not consider the letter as official.
