US and Iran Hold Peace Talks Amidst Lebanon Conflict
United States and Iran officials convened in Switzerland for peace talks, with the ongoing conflict between Israel and Lebanon reportedly a primary agenda item. US Senator J.D. Vance stated that "great progress" had been made after initial discussions, and that President Donald Trump remained committed to a full regional ceasefire. Iran, however, indicated it would not enter peace talks unless the war in Lebanon stopped, despite reports of a ceasefire and no fresh strikes after Saturday evening. The US President had previously issued a threat to Iran, stating "We'll hit Iran very hard again," to which Iran responded with advice to "Be careful." Meanwhile, the Israeli military stated soldiers were free to act to "eliminate threats in Lebanon."
