India faces mixed rainfall: Deficits and alerts across regions

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for below-normal rainfall in July, citing the strengthening El Niño phenomenon. Simultaneously, parts of India are experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogging in Mumbai and school closures in Maharashtra. The Union Cabinet has reviewed the flood situation in the Northeast and rainfall deficits in other areas. Karnataka has registered its fourth-lowest June rainfall in five decades with a 42% deficit, while Jammu has seen disruptions due to rain and flash floods.
