Mumbai Faces Severe Flooding and Disruption Due to Heavy Rainfall

Mumbai experienced severe waterlogging and disruption on July 6 due to heavy rainfall, with some areas receiving 200 mm of rain in 12 hours. Train traffic on the Main and Harbour lines was affected. Authorities declared a holiday for all private and government schools and colleges in Mumbai and Thane. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an orange alert for Mumbai and an extremely heavy rainfall alert for Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat, citing favorable conditions for monsoon advancement. In a separate incident, a 17-year-old student died due to electrocution in Mumbai during the heavy rains.
