High Court: Marriage age law applies equally, overrides personal law
The Allahabad High Court has ruled that the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (PCMA) and the POCSO Act supersede any personal law, including Muslim Personal Law. The court stated that the legal age for marriage is uniform for all girls, regardless of religion, and that marriage under Sharia law before this age violates these acts.
