Higher Education Enrollment Reaches 4.5 Crore, Women Lead Gains
India's higher education sector has seen a significant increase in enrollment, reaching 4.5 crore students in 2023-24, according to the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) report. Women have notably outpaced men in enrollment and Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER). Despite a push for STEM, Arts remains the most popular undergraduate course, and a majority of colleges are privately managed.
