Bayeux Tapestry returns to Britain for first time in nearly 1,000 years

The 11th-century Bayeux Tapestry has arrived in London for a landmark exhibition, its first showing in Britain in almost 1,000 years. The 68-meter-long masterpiece, depicting the 1066 Norman conquest of England, made a secret overnight journey from France under police protection. It is now at the British Museum. The transfer was overseen by a UK envoy, and the journey was described as discreet and risky.
