Protests Against Ken-Betwa Project Intensify in Chhatarpur
In Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, protests against the Ken-Betwa river link project have continued for 11 to 14 days. Protesters, including tribal communities and leader Amit Bhatnagar, have been demonstrating near the Varan river, citing displacement and lack of compensation. On the 14th day, police forcibly removed protesters, including those on a hunger strike, citing health reasons and hospitalizing Amit Bhatnagar. Protesters allege the administration acted without consent, while some coverage notes the long-standing nature of the villagers' struggle for land and water since 2022.
