Rivers swell across India, prompting flood warnings and evacuations
Several rivers across India are experiencing rising water levels due to heavy rainfall, leading to flood warnings and calls for caution. In Jammu, the Tawi river has surpassed the danger mark, prompting the SDRF to urge immediate evacuation. Similarly, rivers in Uttar Pradesh like the Hindon and Ghaghra are swelling, with the Hindon causing water to enter residential areas in Ghaziabad. The Indian Coast Guard conducted 11 flood relief operations in Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and South Gujarat, rescuing 170 people. Authorities in Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir, have also advised people to stay away from swollen water bodies.
