Protests halt as minister offers assurance on student action

Protests demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan concluded after he offered assurances that students would be spared legal action. Sonam Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike, stated he would end his fast if the government guaranteed no punitive measures against students. Wangchuk had been fasting for 25 days.
