US Judge Halts Paramount-Warner Bros Merger for Two Weeks

A US federal judge has temporarily halted the $81 billion merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery for at least two weeks. The pause was granted following legal action by California and 11 other states, who argue the deal would significantly reduce competition in the US media and entertainment industry. Paramount has agreed to freeze the deal until 2027 after the judge flagged 'serious questions'. The Hollywood actors' union has also backed lawsuits opposing the merger.
