Google Reports Strong Q2 Earnings Amid AI Investments and Product Updates
Alphabet, Google's parent company, reported strong second-quarter earnings with $119.8 billion in revenue, an 82% year-over-year jump in Google Cloud revenue, and YouTube advertising revenue increasing by 13% to over $11 billion. CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted that Gemini is used by 90% of Fortune 100 companies and defended the company's AI strategy amidst concerns over the delayed release of the Gemini 3.5 Pro model. Alphabet also raised its capital expenditure plans by $15 billion to $205 billion, partly for AI investments. Reports also emerged about Google potentially developing a new AI chip for more efficient Gemini model operation and Samsung introducing AI-powered smart eyewear with Google Gemini.
