Sarnath inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List as India's 45th site
Sarnath, an ancient Buddhist site in Uttar Pradesh, has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This marks India's 45th such designation. The site is known as the place where Gautama Buddha delivered his first sermon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the inscription as a proud moment celebrating India's civilisational and spiritual heritage. The inscription follows a 28-year period on UNESCO's tentative list.
