Telangana CM Proposes Lowering Election Age to 21

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has proposed lowering the minimum age for contesting Assembly and Lok Sabha elections from 25 to 21. Reddy stated that if individuals can become IAS officers at 21, they should also be eligible to become MLAs and MPs. He announced that the Telangana Assembly would convene a special session to pass a resolution on this matter, aiming to increase representation for Gen Z. The Chief Minister also urged the Prime Minister to consider this change nationally.
