Nepal Eases Indian Currency Rules, Allows Higher Denominations
Nepal has eased restrictions on Indian currency, allowing travellers to carry Indian bank notes of ₹200 and ₹500 denominations up to a total of ₹25,000. Previously, Nepal had prohibited the entry and use of Indian currency notes above ₹100 following India's demonetisation. The ceiling of ₹25,000 for carrying Indian currency remains unchanged. Separately, Nepal is seeking India's approval to use its biometric National Identity Card as a travel document for cross-border journeys.
