Desilting Drive Across Major Waterbodies in Chennai
The government of Tamil Nadu launched a desilting drive across six major waterbodies in Chennai from July 27 to 29. Minister N Anand inaugurated the drive, which aimed to remove silt and debris accumulated during the monsoon season. The drive involved the removal of over 10,000 cubic meters of silt from the waterbodies. The government claimed that the drive would help improve the water quality and reduce the risk of flooding. The opposition alleged that the drive was a publicity stunt and did not address the root causes of the problem.
