Gold demand dips in India despite price drops, value rises

Total jewellery demand in India for the April-June quarter fell 15% to 75.1 tonnes compared to 88.8 tonnes last year, according to the World Gold Council. Despite this volume decrease, the value of gold purchased in the same period rose significantly, with one report stating an increase of approximately ₹65,000 crore over the previous year. Reports also noted specific price drops, with silver rates falling ₹12,256 over 20 days and gold prices in Delhi falling ₹2,000 to ₹1.47 lakh per 10 grams.
