Indian Stock Market Sees Major Value Erosion in Top Firms
Indian stock markets experienced a significant downturn last week, with the market capitalization of nine out of the top ten most-valued companies eroding by ₹2.74 lakh crore. HDFC Bank suffered the largest valuation drop, while Hindustan Unilever was the only company among the top ten to gain value. The benchmark indices, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty, also registered losses, with the Sensex dropping 2.68% and the Nifty declining 2.33%. The downturn occurred amid ongoing global geopolitical events, including the US-Iran war, which influenced market performance.
