Expressway Sections Collapse Days After Inauguration

Sections of two new expressways, the Lucknow-Kanpur and Delhi-Dehradun, have reportedly collapsed or developed cracks within days or weeks of their inauguration. The Lucknow-Kanpur expressway, costing Rs 4,200 crore, saw surface slippage in Unnao approximately 12 to 14 days after its opening. The Delhi-Dehradun expressway, costing Rs 12,000 crore, also reportedly caved in and developed cracks, with one report mentioning this occurred during the first monsoon rains. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued statements regarding the incidents.
