Andhra Pradesh launches AI platform to forecast urban floods

Andhra Pradesh has launched an Artificial Intelligence-based platform to forecast urban floods, with Vijayawada being the first city to benefit. Developed by the Real Time Governance Society in collaboration with the State Disaster Management Authority and IIT Gandhinagar, the system utilizes three decades of flood data and satellite terrain mapping. It aims to provide rainfall forecasts up to 48 hours in advance to help mitigate flood impacts.
