Pralhad Joshi takes charge as Union Education Minister
Pralhad Joshi officially assumed charge as the Union Minister for Education on July 26, 2026, at Kartavya Bhavan. He stated that Prime Minister Modi placed full trust in him by giving him this responsibility and that he accepts it with humility. Joshi, who has been a cabinet member since 2019 and is considered close to the Prime Minister, acknowledged that the subject is new to him. The appointment has drawn criticism from the opposition, with allegations that the Prime Minister appointed someone who previously agreed to the release of convicts in a rape case.
