E20 Petrol Debate: Gadkari Addresses Mileage, Engine Concerns
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated in Parliament that E20 petrol may reduce vehicle fuel economy by 2-6%, depending on the vehicle's age and type. He also clarified that while some vehicles manufactured before 2016 might require minor modifications to their rubber parts for E20 compatibility, no engine failures have been reported. The government asserts that extensive studies show E20 does not cause abnormal engine wear or reduce vehicle life, and credits ethanol blending for fuel price stability and improved energy security. Some participants at a rally organized by Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS called for Gadkari's resignation over the E20 fuel rollout.
