Tata Sons Reports Increased Profit Amidst Significant Air India Losses
Tata Sons reported a 21.8% rise in profit for FY26, reaching ₹158.66 crore, while its overall losses from privately held businesses nearly doubled to ₹27,854 crore. A significant portion of these losses, approximately 80%, is attributed to Air India, which incurred ₹22,238 crore in FY26, more than double its previous year's losses. The turnaround plan for Air India, initially a five-year strategy, is now projected to take up to a decade. The company's chairman noted that new ventures like Air India, Tata Digital, Tata Electronics, and Agratas are in a growth phase requiring substantial investment.
