UEFA opposes FIFA's $20 billion World Cup commercial rights plan

FIFA plans to create a new $20 billion subsidiary to manage its major tournaments, including the World Cup, and sell stakes to private investors. European football's governing body, UEFA, has strongly opposed this proposal, calling it "unacceptable" and stating it is "not FIFA's to sell." UEFA has threatened a boycott of FIFA competitions if the plan is approved and is considering legal action. FIFA President Gianni Infantino, however, claims the plan is about "democratisation of football worldwide" and has accused critics of spreading hate and false rumors.
