Odisha medical college renamed after VHP leader, sparks tribal opposition
The Odisha government has decided to rename the Government Medical College and Hospital in Phulbani after Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati. The government also approved a ₹13 crore grant from the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance fund. Tribals in the region have opposed the move, citing Saraswati's association with the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and his alleged work against Christian conversions in tribal areas.
