Karnataka colleges to conduct HIV screening amid rising concerns
Karnataka's higher education institutions have been instructed to conduct HIV screening for students. This directive follows reports of a rise in HIV infections among youth, with some outlets citing over 7,000 cases among 18-25 year olds. However, the Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society (KSAPS) has clarified that HIV testing is not mandatory for college students. One report also addressed a Tamil news channel's broadcast of allegedly false claims regarding the number of HIV cases and mandatory testing.
