Trump announces Hamas disarmament deal, Israel silent
US President Donald Trump announced on July 31, 2026, that his "Board of Peace" had reached an agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza. Trump stated that following this disarmament, Israel would withdraw from Gaza and a new Palestinian government would be formed. A senior Hamas official confirmed their agreement to the plan to the BBC. However, Israel had not officially commented on the agreement at the time of reporting, and support for the deal remained uncertain.
