16 Indians Killed in West Asia Conflict, Government Informs Parliament
The Indian government informed Parliament on Thursday that 16 Indian nationals have been killed and 75 injured in the West Asia conflict this year. Among the deceased were 10 seafarers. The government is providing financial assistance to the families of the deceased. Separately, the Supreme Court directed the Centre to appoint a nodal officer to assist families of Indians killed or missing in the Russia-Ukraine war, including helping with compensation claims and providing information in vernacular languages. The Ministry of External Affairs also secured the release of 139 Indians from the Russian Army and warned against fraudulent overseas recruitment agencies.
