US, Saudi Arabia Strike Iran-Backed Groups in Iraq
The United States and Saudi Arabia conducted joint airstrikes against Iran-backed militias in Iraq. These strikes followed Iran's alleged missile attacks on a base hosting U.S. troops in Jordan and intercepted Iranian missile attacks on U.S. forces. Iran-supported Iraqi groups claimed 20 people were killed in the strikes. The U.S. also awarded a significant contract for Patriot interceptor missiles amid concerns over dwindling stockpiles.
